About the role

Duties and Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Assist the Housekeeping Manager in overseeing the housekeeping team, including room attendants, laundry staff, and other cleaning personnel. Provide guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure efficient and effective operations.

  • Collaborate with the housekeeping team to ensure all guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces are cleaned and maintained according to the established standards. Monitor the implementation of cleaning procedures and inspect rooms regularly for quality assurance.

  • Assist in managing housekeeping supplies and inventory, including cleaning products, linens, and guest amenities. Maintain par levels and initiate purchase orders as needed to avoid stock shortages.

  • Help create and maintain staff schedules, taking into account occupancy levels, special events, and any other factors that may impact staffing requirements. Ensure adequate coverage at all times to meet guest needs.

  • Assist in providing training to housekeeping staff on cleaning techniques, safety protocols, and customer service standards. Conduct regular training sessions to enhance employee skills and maintain a high level of service.

  • Work to achieve high guest satisfaction scores by promptly addressing guest concerns related to housekeeping and cleanliness. Take appropriate corrective actions to resolve issues and maintain a positive guest experience.

  • Ensure that housekeeping staff adheres to health and safety regulations, including proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment. Promote a safe work environment and report any potential hazards or incidents.

  • Assist in monitoring housekeeping expenses and labour costs to stay within budgetary guidelines. Implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality and guest satisfaction.

  • Maintain effective communication with other departments, such as front office and maintenance, to ensure smooth coordination of guest services and maintenance requests.


What you will need

Required criteria

  • Education in hospitality management.
  • Previous experience in housekeeping or a related field, with demonstrated supervisory skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively motivate and inspire a diverse team.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to lead and motivate a team.
  • Knowledge of cleaning products, equipment, and best practices in the industry.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations related to housekeeping operations.
  • Proficiency in using computer software for scheduling, inventory management, and reporting.
