PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION
To maintain in excellent condition by performing all necessary services to the golf
course, driveway and greenkeeper machinery storage shed
About the role
TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides lawn care to grass areas such as greens, tees, fairways, semi-rough and driving ranges by mowing, seeding, top dressing, aerating, scarifying and fertilisation
To identify and treat turf disease
Ensures golf course exceeds requirements for all competitions
Ensure all equipment is used in line with Health & Safety legislation
Maintain bunkers, when necessary, by mowing, edging and raking
Collects driving range balls when required
Carries out any task relating to the maintenance of a golf course
EXPECTATIONS, SERVICE and TEAMWORK
Provides other duties when required at the Roe Park Resort
Provides value added service to customers/golfers by doing whatever
reasonable and possible to exceed expectations
Communicates effectively with customers and co-workers
Demonstrates teamwork by co-operating and assisting co-workers when needed
Performs other duties when required to provide service and team work
Handles difficult situations effectively
HEALTH and SAFETY
Ensures that all potential and real hazards are reported and reduced immediately
Ensures that emergency procedures are practised and enforced to provide for the security and safety of guests and employees
Maintains a high standard of personal hygiene, clean uniform, appearance,body language and conduct
Ensures all maintenance issues are dealt with as set out in the hotel procedures
Maintains own working area, materials and resort property clean, tidy and in good shape; report defective materials and equipment to Head Greenkeeper
Makes sure appropriate safety wear is worn when carrying out daily duties
Ensures that machinery and equipment are parked/stored in the correct manner
Drives machinery in a responsible and sensible manner
Reports any hazards or injuries to the Head Greenkeeper
Keeps machinery storage shed locked at all times when unattended
Works in a safe manner that does not harm or injure self or others
MISCELLANEOUS
Maintains driving range and surrounding areas
Attends meetings and training sessions as required by the Head Greenkeeper
Accepts flexible work schedule necessary for uninterrupted service when required
Keeps Head Greenkeeper fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance
Ability to come to work regularly and on time, to follow directions, to take criticism, to get along with co-workers/supervisors/mangers to treat co-workers, supervisors/managers and members/guests with respect and courtesy, and to refrain from abusive, insubordinate and /or violent behaviour
Respects hotel property and that of guests and fellow employees
Assists other departments when required
May be required to carry out additional duties not listed to suit the business demands.
Continuously seeks to endeavour professionalism in own job function
Knows:
Hotel fire, bomb and emergency procedures
Hotel health and safety policies and procedures
What you will need
Required criteria
- Good communication skills
- Good stamina and physical fitness
- Self-motivated and able to work on your own initiative
- Must have a Full Drivers Licence
- Able to work alone and also as part of a team
- Willingness to work outside in all types of weather
- Have practical skills for driving and operating machinery
- Able to understand and follow health and safety requirements
- Good understanding of Golf
- Must be able to travel to work
- Must be able to work 7am – 3.30pm Monday-Friday and Saturday/Sunday when required
