About the role

About the role

Based at the Port of Grangemouth and reporting to the Group IT Corporate Systems Manager, the Trainee Technical Analyst is an interesting and varied role which involves working as part of our busy Technical team to support our IT and infrastructure services with effective technical analysis for our suite of corporate systems. There will be a particular emphasis on providing technical support and analysis for our HR system.

 

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Daily monitoring of our IT operational support environment including the helpdesk, network, servers, communications, office automation and desktops.

  • Managing medium scale projects through to completion to ensure successful implementation.

  • Providing technical support for the HR system, including troubleshooting and resolving issues, and working with the HR team to identify and implement improvements to the system.

  • Supporting the development of business continuity and disaster recovery plans.

  • Providing technical advice and input for planning and implementation of new IT equipment and initiatives.

  • Guiding and supporting stakeholders in the use of all available IT facilities.

  • Providing 24-hour call out assistance as necessary by participating in the 24/7 IT on-call rota (on-call allowance paid).

What are we looking for?

  • An IT degree, or related subject, with some experience of providing IT operational support and working on technical projects from planning through to implementation. 

  • A self-starter who can work independently as well as collaborate as part of a wider team.

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills.

  • Ability and confidence to manage end-user queries and requests through to full resolution. 

  • Experience or knowledge of HR systems would be an advantage for the role

  • Good IT skills with a sound practical knowledge of using Excel and MS Suite.

  • A flexible approach to working hours to undertake the 24/7 IT on-call rota.

  • Due to travel across our ports, a full UK driving license is essential.
