We are looking for a hands-on Yard Foreman to manage the yard of a busy depot, the role will include repairing and refurbishing cabins and fit out of modular buildings as well as management of employees in the yard and all aspects of H & S.

About the role

Key Responsibilities:

  • To be able to repair and refurbish cabins / buildings to the AQPG standard.

  • Ensure security of workshop, hire yard and stock.

  • Periodically carry out safety checks on all working at height equipment and train staff on how to work at height.

  • To be able to lead and motivate to ensure a productive and effective team.

  • Ensure depot has stock available for immediate hires and all welfare units are prepared for hire immediately upon return to the depot.

  • Act as a skills mentor to junior staff or apprentices.

  • Ensure cabins / buildings are ready and available within the Yard prior to delivery and that the customer’s requirements have been met.

  • Ensure all company documentation is completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner.

  • Liaise with Depot Manager on work in progress to ensure orders are completed on time.

  • Inspect cabins / buildings prior to delivery to ensure quality of workmanship (AQPG standards).

  • Inspect cabins / buildings on return to depot and report damages or items missing.

  • Organise, arrange, and manage subcontract labour if required

  • Where required, negotiate with and order materials at best price from approved suppliers.

  • Minimise material wastage.

  • Ensure safe loading and unloading of cabins / buildings and materials.

  • Ensure workshop and hire yard are maintained in a clean and orderly fashion. To carry out any other duties which may be agreed from time to time.

  • To attend training as required to carry out duties

  • Carry out work in accordance with company approved Risk Assessments and Method Statements

  • To work additional hours (overtime) as is reasonably required by the business

  • Adhere to current Health & Safety Legislation

Who we are looking for:

  • Experience in cabin fitting or modular building fit out is essential

  • Management or supervisory experience in a similar role

  • Not scared to delegate work

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

  • Experience with plumbing, joinery and basic electrical work

  • Full driving license

  • Resilient and able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
