Assistant Berthing Master, Deganwy Marina
Based on the very edge of The Snowdonia National Park and just minutes from the A55, Deganwy Marina is perfectly positioned.
Main Purpose of Job:You will be involved in a variety of operations around the marina using a range of equipment while engaging with other staff, customers, external suppliers, contractors, and visitors. You will conduct maintenance activities and checks, including security, around the marina and boatyard, and comply with relevant legislation, regulations, and codes of practice at all times.
Reporting Responsibility:Reports to the Marina Manager
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Keep yourself and others safe within the marina/boatyard by complying with relevant guidance, practices, instructions, and information.
Maintain environmental good practices by complying with relevant guidance, practices, instructions, and information.
Assist with lifting and shoring boats in the boatyard, operating lifting plant and equipment where appropriate.
Record vessel movements in the marina, allocate berths, and provide services.
Manage vessel movement, including communication with vessels by Marina VHF radio.
Perform routine maintenance on the marina/boatyard facilities in accordance with maintenance schedules, using appropriate machinery and equipment.
Operate lock/sill gates where appropriate.
Clean vessel hulls safely and to required standards.
Dispense and receive fuel, maintaining sales records and safety procedures.
Respond safely and efficiently to emergencies and incidents in accordance with relevant guidance, instructions, and information.
Follow appropriate procedures for any accidents, accurately recording details.
Communicate effectively with customers, visitors, and other members of staff.
Deliver excellent customer service, ensuring customer needs are met.
Maintain the marina in a clean, tidy and presentable condition.

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications:
GCSE or equivalent.
Full UK driving license.
Experience:
Experience of sailing and boat handling.
Customer service or customer-facing experience.
Skills and Attributes:
Must have a ‘can do’ attitude.
Ability to work alone and as part of a small team.
Good communication skills.
Good IT skills.
Ability to stay calm under pressure.
Flexibility with working hours.
