Job Title: Port Operator

Contract: 70 week fixed-term contract starting September 2025

Location: Port of Rosyth

Compensation: £40,335 + paid overtime

Hours: Monday to Friday, with the flexibility to support occasional business needs, which may include 12-hour shifts during evenings and weekends as required

About the role

We are seeking to strengthen our skilled Port teams by recruiting enthusiastic and committed Port Operators. Plant driving is a major part of the role, and you will be trained to drive port plant equipment such as forklifts, shovel loaders and skid steer loaders.  We are particularly looking for candidates who have the potential to train as crane drivers so the ability to work at height is essential. 

It is important to us that you are a good team member, who is also able to work independently. You will need to think critically, analyse situations, and develop practical solutions to overcome obstacles, minimise delays, and maintain operational efficiency.

The Port environment is fast paced and busy so you must be able to demonstrate a really good understanding of the importance of Health and Safety in a heavily industrialised environment. 

You will be working on the quayside, in the hold of vessels and in our warehouses.

You will have the opportunity to work a variety of shifts including days, nights and weekends. To align with the dynamic needs of our business, overtime will be an essential part of your role when required.

 

What are we looking for?

  • Plant driving experience and a forklift truck licence

  • You must be available to work regular overtime

  • Weekend and nightshift working will be required

  • Although you will be based at either the Port of Rosyth, you will be required to travel to our other Scottish Ports to assist with peak shipping

  • Full driving licence, valid in the UK

  • Right to work in the UK
