As Welder/Fabricator you are responsible for the welding and fabrication of metal components to produce custom parts and equipment, as per specification.  This role requires precision, attention to detail and adherence to safety standards to ensure the quality and structural integrity of finished products.

About the role

Welding and Fabrication:

·       Perform MIG welding based on project requirements, to a consistently high standard.

·       Fabricate and assemble metal components according to drawings, sketches or verbal instructions.

·       Operate welding equipment and machinery safely and efficiently.

Quality Control:

·       Inspect welded joints and structures to ensure they meet specifications and standards.

·       Perform non-destructive testing methods as required to check the integrity of welds.

Material Handling:

·       Select appropriate materials for each job, ensuring compliance with specifications.

·       Cut, grind and shape metal components to precise dimensions using hand and power tools.

·       Operation of handheld power tools.

Reading Drawings:

·       Interpret technical drawings and schematics to understand project requirements.

·       Read engineering drawings to fabricate assembles ready for welding.

·       Mark and layout reference points and dimensions on workpieces.

Safety and Maintenance:

·       Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

·       Maintain a clean and organised workspace.

Collaboration:

·       Work closely with engineers, designers, and other team members to ensure project specifications are met.

Provide feedback and suggest improvements to design and fabrication processes.

What you will need

Required criteria

  • At least 3 years experience in welding / fabrication
  • Good timekeeping and attendance
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines and manage workload, ensuring all projects are completed in full and on time
  • Ability to work safely and follow all Health and Safety rules to ensure a safe working environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to read and understand drawings

Desired criteria

  • Proficient in MIG, TIG and Stick welding
  • Qualification in welding
