Process Improvement Engineer - Coventry
Lead, inspire and improve. Apply skills and learning to understand and monitor processes, with the aim to design and implement effective improvements that support departmental business plans. Have a clear understanding of the business to support the day to day running of departmental activities. Invest knowledge and understanding to the workforce, through training and regular communication. Lead and inspire the teams to instil confidence, competence and consistency.
About the role
· Project manage the design new Machinery, systems, equipment and processes for the introduction of new products or the improvement of existing ones, ensuring all documentation is relevant and up to date.
· Target inefficiencies quickly using problem solving techniques such as 5 whys, A3 and Root Cause Analysis.
· Support, cost estimate and document all engineering changes.
· Ensure non-conformances within production are identified, eliminated and controls are in place to prevent reoccurrences.
· Ensure all manufacturing processes are supported by the necessary training, documentation and Quality Controls.
· Understand the requirements of modern machinery ensuring compliance with current legislation and best practice.
· Demonstrate an understanding of current environmental legislation, and future trends.
· Have the ability to clearly and efficiently communicate vital engineering updates and changes to all levels within the business.
· Carry out targeted improvement events through the use of data and Root Cause analysis.
· Review results gained from improvements to ensure objectives have been achieved.
· Prepare reports and documentation and communicate to team members, senior management team,
· Work closely with the production support teams, maintaining an advocacy of all policies and procedures underpinning the way we do business. Leading by example, you will be one of the supporting functions of all topics associated within the production support teams. Support and Lead projects, driving out waste, reducing downtime and improving OTIFEF delivery to customers.
· Work closely with the Engineering Development Manager, identifying and creating an ongoing road map for engineering to deliver on the company’s business goals.
What you will need
Required criteria
- • Advanced degrees in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent employment experience, with strong knowledge of mechanical and electronic fundamentals, applied to the manufacturing sector.
- • Proven work experience in process engineering or equivalent role.
- • Excellent technical skills with working knowledge of process engineering software packages
- • CNC programming experience
- • Ability to design, modify and fault find on PLC and HMI software.
- • Ability to design electrical control systems.
- • Ability to design Pneumatic control systems.
- • Ability to optimise facility layouts, production lines, machine operations and workflows
Desired criteria
- • Six Sigma Green belt (or above), Kaizen, 5S, Lean formal qualifications and training
- • Experience in ISO9001 and ISO14001
- • Experience of quality control systems.
