About the role
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead, motivate, and support the team, becoming proficient in all aspects of operations.
Adhere to quality control standards, ensuring production output meets quality standards. Maintain supporting records and liaise with the site Quality Technician as required.
Utilise resources to respond quickly to conditions and resolve issues.
Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly plant checks. Review and act on unsafe conditions, and report any weaknesses in safe systems of work or procedures.
Use Lean Management tools to drive continuous improvement. Be aware of associated production costs and strive to increase productivity while maintaining quality.
Regularly inspect and ensure stock levels of materials for production and repairs (spares) are maintained to support continuous production.
Ensure perpetual inventory checks are carried out as appropriate for stock in the yard.
Ensure production schedules are adhered to and escalate any issues to the Supply Chain Planning Manager and Site Manager promptly.
Plan and coordinate machine downtime and repairs. Liaise with the Site Manager and Maintenance team regarding preventative and planned maintenance of machinery and ensure routine maintenance tasks are carried out.
Establish and maintain safe working areas. Oversee best practice standards for housekeeping and tidiness of yard and work areas. Conduct spot checks and take corrective action as necessary regarding housekeeping, unsafe acts, or adherence to HSEQ rules and procedures.
Responsible for the team’s H&S performance. Ensure employee compliance with HSEQ procedures, safe systems of work, and legislative requirements. Act on all employee concerns and suggestions.
Issue and enforce PPE requirements and ensure appropriate equipment and tools are used by all employees.
Provide technical support for all operational areas to fix issues and make improvements to increase quality and efficiency.
Liaise with Site Manager and Human Resources regarding the monitoring of employee performance, including attendance, timekeeping, and holiday management.
Ensure the team provides excellent customer care by being considerate, polite, and courteous when dealing with customers.
Act as an advocate for AG’s culture and values by demonstrating integrity, sustainability, customer care, wellbeing, and innovation in all aspects of your work and interactions with colleagues.
Adhere to all Company Health and Safety policies at all times, wearing the correct PPE while working in the plant and yard, and taking responsibility for personal safety and that of colleagues.
Any other duties commensurate with the role and within capabilities.
What you will need
Required criteria
- Medically fit to undertake the physical requirements of the job
- At least five years experience of supervising in a manufacturing environment
- Previous experience in routine and preventative maintenance environment
- Previous experience of quality control
- Computer Literate
- Adherence and appreciation for H&S litigation and general housekeeping standard
- Ability to meet production deadlines
- Experience of effective communication to team members
- Available to respond to production problems outside normal hours
- Flexible approach to work required, willingness to retrain and learn new skills
