Charity Shop Volunteer
Volunteer Role Description: Charity Shop Volunteer
Purpose: To Provide support in a local charity shop.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Taking part in the day to day running of a charity shop
Accepting donated items and sorting
Washing items such as toys and ensuring all parts are available
Ensure items meet safety standards
Keeping item store tidy
Replenishing stock in the shop
Steaming items in the shop
Keeping records of type of stock to be sourced via social media
Ensuring the shop remains clean and tidy throughout the day
Tagging, dating and pricing items in the shop (guidance to follow re pricing
Use of till and card machine for costumer payments
Logging items sold
Completing gift aid forms with people donating.
Keeping gift aid information up to date
Counting the float
Good customer service
Adhering to data protection and confidentiality where required (e.g. gift aid information)
Possibility of collections (not at present)
Rotating stock, reducing prices where necessary on a 3-4 monthly basis

About the role
Time Commitment:
Flexible time: Times for volunteering in the shop are determined between volunteer shop manager. Availability provided and shop manager will compile a weekly / monthly rota to accommodate all volunteer availability.
Skills Required:
Friendly personality; strong interpersonal and communication skills; sincere interest in working in a charity shop setting; good judgement, common sense, patience and understanding; good customer care.

Crossroads Care NI is a voluntary organisation whose sole purpose is to provide as much respite care as possible to carers of whatever age and disability. Crossroads have been providing a service to Carers in Northern Ireland since 1979. We provide services through our domiciliary, Young Carers and In Your Prime projects.
