Location: Port of Tilbury
Hours: This role is scheduled to work Monday to Friday; however, due to operational requirements, flexibility is essential as the position may involve day, late, or night shifts.

About the role
About the role
This role plays a key part in supporting the development, delivery, and assessment of accredited training programmes that align with operational, safety, and regulatory standards. You will contribute to building a skilled and capable workforce by delivering high-quality training, coaching, and assessment to operational employees.
Working closely with the Learning & Development team and operational leaders, you will help ensure that employees are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and confidence required to perform their roles safely and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Training Delivery
Support the Learning & Development team in delivering accredited and bespoke in-house training courses for internal delegates and external customers.
Assist in the training and recertification of operational employees on plant and equipment required to perform their roles safely and effectively.
Deliver training in accordance with approved lesson plans and scheduled timetables to ensure consistency and quality.
Coaching & Assessment
Coach and assess trainees during training sessions against relevant standards and learning objectives.
Identify learning gaps and provide guidance to support delegate development.
Monitor the on-the-job performance of Port Operators in collaboration with Line Managers to validate training effectiveness.
Course Development & Improvement
Contribute to the continuous improvement of existing training programmes.
Identify opportunities to develop new training initiatives that support operational and business needs.
Maintain awareness of current health and safety legislation and industry standards relevant to training delivery.
Supporting Tasks
Prepare training materials in advance and ensure training facilities and equipment are fit for purpose.
Support other Learning & Development and Asset Management activities as required.
Undertake any additional duties that support the wider objectives of the Learning & Development function.
Decision Making
Operate within established procedures and training frameworks.
Demonstrate sound judgement and adaptability when responding to changing circumstances during training delivery.
Maintain a calm and methodical approach when working under pressure.
Recognise when to escalate issues or seek guidance while maintaining confidence in decision-making within the role.

Qualifications & Skills
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Ability to build good working relationships with colleagues across the business.
Excellent IT skills e.g. PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook and social media platforms.
Capability to read and interpret documents including safety rules, maintenance and procedural manuals.
Competency to learn the theoretical and practical elements for course delivery.
Accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality are essential.
Full driving licence valid in the UK, as some travel to other Ports will be a regular feature of the role.
Confident working at height and in confined spaces.
Ideally with Straddle carrier operational experience and other heavy port plant would be advantageous, although training can be provided
