Workshop Manager

Wernick Hire, the UK’s largest and longest standing National provider of permanent and temporary modular buildings and site accommodation, is looking for a talented individual to join their team as a Workshop Managaer.

Join our dynamic Hire Team, to lead the yard operations team and ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and on time.

About the role

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety, security, and organisation of the workshop, yard, and stock

  • Lead and supervise yard staff to maintain productivity and quality standards

  • Coordinate workloads and produce effective production plans

  • Liaise with the Depot/Assistant Manager to ensure timely completion of orders

  • Inspect cabins/buildings before dispatch and upon return, reporting any damage

  • Ensure all units meet customer requirements and quality expectations

  • Maintain accurate records and complete all company documentation

  • Manage materials, including ordering from approved suppliers and minimising waste

  • Oversee safe loading and unloading of cabins and materials

  • Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient working environment

  • Arrange and manage subcontract labour where required

  • Drive continuous improvement within the depot

 

Health & Safety

  •  Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, company procedures, and risk assessments

  • Promote a strong safety culture across the team

 About You

  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail

  • Experienced in workshop, yard, or depot operations (modular/building hire desirable)

  • Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

  • Commercially aware with a focus on efficiency and cost control

  • A confident communicator with a proactive approach
