About the role

Purpose of the Job

The post holder will take a leading role in training and development of staff, working in collaboration with the Regional Manager, Home Managers and Human Resources. The post holder will provide clinical nursing leadership within any nursing home within the group to cover Nurse Manager leave, absence or vacant post. This includes:

  • Operational management of the nursing home and its resources.

  • Clinical expertise through actively promoting a culture of education and practice development.

  • Guiding, instructing and monitoring professional nursing staff, student nurses, nursing care assistants and all other ancillary staff employed in the home.

  • Practicing in accordance with NMC code of conduct, statutory requirements and the Nursing Homes Order 2005.

Essential Criteria

  • Registration on sub part 1of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) live register by the closing date of the recruitment advertisement.

  • 5 years post-qualification experience of which must include 2 years’ experience as a Nursing Home Manager.

  • Demonstrable knowledge of professional and statutory bodies legislation.

  • Demonstrable understanding of the issues and tasks involved in the Governance and Management of nursing homes for example Human Resources, Regulatory Frameworks and Budgetary control.

  • Previous experience with the delivery of training and development of staff in a healthcare setting.

  • A valid full UK driving license and access to a vehicle OR access to a form of transport which enables the post holder to fulfil the duties of the post.

This role involves substantial access to vulnerable adults. The successful candidate will be offered the position subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure Check through Access NI.  Regulated posts will also require a check of the adult barred list.
